The Rainy Season in Ho Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh City has two seasons: the dry season and the rainy season. The rainy season starts in May and ends in November. In these months, it rains almost every day.

The rain in Ho Chi Minh City is special. In the morning, the sky is usually clear and sunny. But in the afternoon, dark clouds come. Then it rains very hard for about one hour. After the rain, the sun often comes out again, and the air is cool and fresh.

When it rains, the streets are very busy. Many people ride motorbikes, so they wear raincoats. The raincoats are big and colorful: red, blue, green and yellow. Some people stop under a bridge or in front of a shop and wait for the rain to stop.

Sometimes the rain is very heavy, and some streets flood. The water can be deep, so drivers need to go slowly. Children love the rain. They play in the water and laugh.

Street food is popular on rainy days. People like hot soup, like phở or bún bò, because it makes them warm. Some people sit in small cafés, drink hot tea and listen to the sound of the rain.

Many visitors don't like the rain at first. But the rain doesn't last long, and the city is green and beautiful in this season. My advice: always carry a raincoat in your bag!
